NCL Apprentices Recruitment 2026 Opens For 1607 Posts, Check Eligibility, Stipend And Last Date

Northern Coalfields Limited has opened a major apprenticeship opportunity for fresh candidates in 2026. The NCL Apprentices recruitment 2026 offers 1607 training posts across Graduate, Diploma, ITI Trade and Paramedical categories.
The application window is short. Online applications started on June 1, 2026, and the last date to apply is June 15, 2026. So candidates who are eligible should not wait until the final day, especially because applications must be completed through the NATS or NAPS portals.
This is not a permanent government job. It is a one-year apprenticeship training programme under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Still, for freshers from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, it can be a useful entry point into practical industry training with a Coal India subsidiary.
What Is NCL Apprentices Recruitment 2026
Northern Coalfields Limited, or NCL, is a Miniratna company and a subsidiary of Coal India Limited. Its headquarters are in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, and its operations are linked mainly to coal mining and allied activities.
For 2026-27, NCL has notified 1607 apprentice trainee posts under advertisement number NCL/HRD/CETI/2026-27/168 dated May 25, 2026. The training period is one year.
The posts are divided into four broad groups.
- Graduate Apprentice – 241 posts
- Diploma Apprentice – 305 posts
- Trade Apprentice or ITI – 906 posts
- Paramedical Apprentice – 155 posts
This makes the recruitment useful for different education levels. Engineering graduates, commerce graduates, diploma holders, ITI candidates and paramedical candidates all have separate categories.
Who Can Apply
The basic eligibility is clear. Candidates must be Indian citizens and should have completed the required qualification from a recognized institute or university located in Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh.
- For Graduate Apprentice posts, candidates need a relevant degree such as engineering, B.Com, BA, LLB, BCA or other notified qualifications.
- For Diploma Apprentice posts, candidates need a relevant diploma in branches such as mining, mechanical, electrical, civil, electronics, computer science, environmental, survey or office management.
- For Trade Apprentice posts, candidates need matriculation along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade. The major trades include electrician, fitter, welder, turner, machinist, auto electrician, COPA, diesel mechanic and motor mechanic vehicle.
- For Paramedical Apprentice posts, candidates need the relevant degree or diploma in notified healthcare disciplines such as nursing, pharmacy, DMLT, X-ray, ECG, GNM, physiotherapy and allied fields.
One important condition is the qualification year. Candidates should have completed the required qualification between June 2022 and May 2026. Those who passed before June 2022 are generally not eligible as per reported notification details.
Age Limit And Relaxation
The general age limit is 18 to 26 years as on June 1, 2026. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories as per rules. SC and ST candidates get 5 years relaxation. OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates get 3 years relaxation. PwBD candidates get relaxation depending on their category.
Candidates who already completed apprenticeship training, are currently undergoing apprenticeship, or have one year or more job experience are not eligible.

The monthly stipend depends on the apprentice category.
- Graduate Apprentices will receive Rs. 12,300 per month.
- Diploma Apprentices will receive Rs. 10,900 per month.
- Trade or ITI Apprentices will receive between Rs. 9,600 and Rs. 10,560 per month, depending on the trade duration and category.

The stipend is not a salary. It is a training stipend paid during the apprenticeship period. For Graduate and Diploma Apprentices, the stipend includes the Government of India share paid through DBT. Candidates should keep their Aadhaar-linked bank account ready.
How Selection Will Happen
There is no written exam for NCL Apprentice recruitment 2026.
Selection will be merit-based, mainly on marks scored in the qualifying examination. After the merit list, shortlisted candidates will have to go through document scrutiny and medical examination.
The tentative merit list date mentioned in recruitment reports is June 20, 2026. Candidates should keep checking the official NCL website after applying.
How To Apply
Graduate and Diploma candidates need to apply through the NATS portal. Trade, ITI and Paramedical candidates need to apply through the NAPS portal.
Before applying, candidates should keep marksheets, certificates, Aadhaar, bank details, category certificate if applicable, PwBD certificate if applicable and council registration documents for paramedical posts ready.
Candidates should apply for only one notified post. Multiple applications can lead to rejection.
Why This Opportunity Matters
For freshers, apprenticeship is useful because it gives real workplace exposure. Many candidates complete degrees or ITI courses but do not get hands-on industrial experience. NCL’s training can help them understand practical work, safety systems, maintenance, operations and workplace discipline.
It can be especially useful for candidates from mining, mechanical, electrical, civil, ITI and healthcare backgrounds who want experience in a large public sector environment.
However, candidates should be realistic. Apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment in NCL. It is mainly a training opportunity with stipend and experience.
