India’s startup funding market continues to support businesses solving very different consumer problems. Rural healthcare platform CureBay has raised about Rs. 100 crore in a pre-Series C round led by IvyCap Ventures as per ET Entrepreneur. Meanwhile, Japanese dining chain Harajuku Tokyo Cafe is reportedly raising $3 million in a pre-Series A round led by Zero W.

CureBay’s deal is supported by current funding reports. Harajuku Tokyo Cafe’s new round saw $3 million fund raise as per ET Retail. Earlier $2 million seed round in 2025 was raised by this startup.

CureBay expands its rural healthcare model

CureBay was founded in 2021 by Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Shobhan Mahapatra and Sanjay Swain. The company combines local clinics, trained health workers, digital tools and partner hospitals to make healthcare easier to access in underserved areas.

Its latest funding round totals around Rs. 100 crore. About Rs. 69 crore comes through equity led by IvyCap Ventures and existing investors. More than Rs. 30 crore comes as venture debt from Trifecta Capital, Alteria Capital and VentureSoul Partners.

Equity funding gives investors ownership in a company. Venture debt is borrowed money that must be repaid, usually used by growing startups that already have some business activity.

CureBay plans to use the capital to expand its healthcare delivery network, enter new markets including Andhra Pradesh, and improve its technology and AI capabilities. The company wants its AI tools to support early screening, health insights and clinical decisions.

For a patient in a small town, this can mean visiting a nearby clinic, speaking with a doctor through video consultation, getting tests arranged and receiving medicines without travelling repeatedly to a large city. AI can assist health workers with screening, but it should support trained medical professionals rather than replace them.

CureBay competes with telemedicine services, diagnostic chains, hospital networks and other health-tech platforms. Its key difference is its physical presence through rural clinics and community-level workers.

Harajuku Tokyo Cafe and its reported new round

Harajuku Tokyo Cafe was founded by Gaurav Kanwar in 2021. The company brings Japanese-inspired food and themed dining experiences to India through cafés, bakehouses and packaged-food offerings.

The brand is known for Japanese street-food items, desserts, sushi, ramen, boba tea and immersive interiors inspired by Tokyo’s Harajuku district. Its business is not only about food; it also focuses on the experience of visiting the outlet.

Reports indicate that Harajuku Tokyo Cafe has raised $3 million in a pre-Series A round led by Zero W.

The company’s earlier institutional seed round was worth $2 million, or roughly Rs. 19 crore, and was backed by Indian Angel Network, Samved VC, LetsVenture and Capitar Ventures. That capital was intended to support outlet expansion across Indian cities.

Harajuku competes with Japanese restaurant chains, Asian casual-dining brands, dessert cafés and quick-service restaurant players. Its challenge will be maintaining food quality and a consistent experience as it expands.
