Toyota is preparing an Innova HyCross that can run on E100 ethanol, Honda has confirmed India as the manufacturing base for its upcoming ALPHA electric SUV, and several car brands are using festive offers to attract buyers.

For anyone planning to buy a new vehicle, these stories matter for different reasons. One points to alternative fuel, another brings a new locally built EV closer, and the third may help buyers reduce the final on-road bill.

E100 Toyota Innova HyCross expected this month

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that he will launch Toyota’s E100 Innova HyCross in November 2026. E100 means fuel made almost entirely from ethanol, an alcohol-based fuel generally produced from crops such as sugarcane and maize.

The vehicle is expected to be a flex-fuel version of the Innova HyCross. Flex-fuel vehicles are designed to run on petrol mixed with ethanol, including much higher ethanol blends than regular cars can handle. This is important because an E100-compatible vehicle needs specially designed engine components and fuel-system parts.

Gadkari made the announcement at the ENRich 2026 conference in New Delhi reported Cartoq. However, Toyota has not yet shared final details such as the showroom launch date, price, booking amount or full specifications. So, buyers should not assume that deliveries will begin immediately after the ministerial launch event.

The bigger point is that the E100 Innova HyCross could become a high-profile test case for ethanol-powered passenger vehicles in India. It may appeal to fleet operators and large families who want an alternative to conventional petrol, provided E100 fuel becomes easily available in their area.

Honda ALPHA will be built in India

Honda has officially named its upcoming electric SUV the Honda ALPHA in its Press release. It will be the company’s first made-in-India electric SUV and will make its global debut in India on December 2, 2026.

Honda Cars India plans to build the ALPHA at its Tapukara factory in Rajasthan. More importantly, the company has said India will serve as a future global production base for the model. That means the SUV is not being developed only for local sales; it may also support Honda’s export plans.

The Honda ALPHA was first previewed as the Honda 0 alpha concept at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025. Final specifications, battery size, range, price and variant details have not been announced yet. Sales are expected to begin in 2027.

When it reaches showrooms, the Honda ALPHA electric SUV is likely to face strong competition from the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV. Honda’s strength could be its reputation for reliability, while local manufacturing may help it price the vehicle more sensibly than a fully imported EV.

Festive car discounts cross Rs. 1 lakh

The festive season remains one of the best times to negotiate on a new car. Recent listed offers show that benefits can cross Rs. 1 lakh on select models, especially when cash discounts, exchange bonuses, scrappage benefits and corporate schemes are combined.

Hyundai, Kia, Renault, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra are among the brands that have offered benefits on selected cars and SUVs. As reported by HT Auto, Kia’s festive benefits reached up to Rs. 1.60 lakh on the Syros, while the Seltos had listed benefits of up to Rs. 1.47 lakh. Hyundai’s Creta had benefits of up to Rs. 1 lakh in the reported campaign.

These offers are not simple price cuts. A Rs. 1 lakh-plus package may include conditions such as exchanging an old vehicle, using a scrappage certificate, choosing a specific variant or qualifying for a corporate discount. Availability can also change by city, dealership and stock level.

For example, a buyer interested in an outgoing model may receive a larger offer because the dealer wants to clear older inventory. Before paying a booking amount, ask for a written breakup of every benefit and check whether the offer is valid on the exact variant and colour you want.
