Citroen e-C3X Launched in India, Affordable EV Gets BaaS Pricing and 325 km Range

Citroen has launched the updated e-C3X electric hatchback in India, bringing a lower entry price through a Battery-as-a-Service model and a more complete feature package. The EV is priced from Rs. 10.25 lakh for outright purchase, while BaaS pricing is reported from Rs. 6.89 lakh with battery usage charged separately is at Rs. 2.26 per km.
That difference matters because BaaS changes how a buyer pays for the car. Instead of paying the full cost of the battery upfront, customers pay a lower vehicle price and then pay for battery use based on running. This can make the e-C3X look more affordable at the time of purchase, especially for city buyers.
The Citroen e-C3X is aimed at people who want a practical electric car for daily use, not a luxury EV. It competes mainly with the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV in India’s affordable electric car space.
What BaaS means for buyers
BaaS stands for Battery-as-a-Service. In simple words, the buyer pays less upfront for the car because the battery cost is handled separately. This model can work well for people who drive limited daily distances and want to reduce the initial purchase burden. For example, someone using the car for office commutes, school runs and local shopping may prefer paying a lower upfront price.
But buyers should calculate the total cost carefully. The per-km battery charge will add to monthly running cost. So, if someone drives a lot every day, outright purchase may sometimes be easier to understand in the long run.
Battery, motor and range
The Citroen e-C3X uses a 29.2 kWh battery pack. The company claims a MIDC-certified range of 325 km, which is higher than the earlier version. Power comes from an electric motor that makes 57 hp and 143 Nm of torque. These numbers are modest, but suitable for city driving. The car is not built for high-speed performance. It is meant for smooth, quiet and affordable daily movement.
The e-C3X can go from 0 to 60 kph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 107 kph. For most urban users, that should be enough for traffic, flyovers and short highway trips.

Charging time
The e-C3X supports both AC and DC charging. Using an AC charger, the battery takes around 10 hours and 30 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 100 percent. With a DC fast charger, it can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 57 minutes.
This makes home charging the most practical option for regular use. Fast charging is useful during longer trips or when the battery needs a quicker top-up.
Features and cabin updates
The updated e-C3X gets several useful changes. It now comes with projector LED headlamps, new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and electrically adjustable power-folding outside mirrors.
Inside, Citroen has added a dual-tone blue-and-beige cabin theme and leatherette upholstery. The dashboard layout remains simple, but the added materials should make the cabin feel fresher.
Feature highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless phone charger, auto-dimming inside mirror, rear wiper, reverse parking camera and parking sensors.
Citroen also offers a dashcam and six-speaker JBL audio setup as accessories. These are useful additions for buyers who want more convenience and better entertainment without moving to a much more expensive EV.

Safety features
Safety equipment includes four airbags on lower trims and six airbags on the top variant. The car also gets ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, high-speed alert and other basic safety features depending on the variant.
For a city-focused EV, these additions are welcome. Buyers should still compare variant-wise safety equipment before booking, because all features may not be available on every trim.

Variants and competitors
The Citroen e-C3X is offered in Live, Live (O) and Shine variants. The Shine trim gets more premium features, while the lower variants are aimed at buyers who want a lower entry price.
Its closest competitors are Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV. The Tiago EV has a stronger brand pull and wider service familiarity. The MG Comet is smaller and more city-focused, with a unique tall-boy design.
The e-C3X stands out with its larger hatchback-like body, improved range, comfortable cabin focus and BaaS option.

Conclusion with key takeaways
The Citroen e-C3X is a practical update for buyers looking at an affordable electric car in India. Its 325 km claimed range, fast-charging support, improved cabin features and BaaS pricing make it more competitive than before.
The main thing buyers should check is the final BaaS cost in their city and how much they drive every month. The lower upfront price is attractive, but the per-km battery charge should be included in the ownership calculation.
