As per the earlier article, Tata Motors has launched the Aeris in India as the replacement for the Tigor. The new sub-four-metre sedan starts at Rs. 5.29 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, making it Rs. 40,000 more affordable than the outgoing Tigor’s starting price.
The Aeris brings a refreshed exterior, a redesigned cabin, more technology and petrol as well as CNG powertrain choices. It is aimed at private buyers, while Tata will continue selling the Xpres for fleet customers. Tata Cars reports that bookings have opened and deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 11, 2026.
Tata Aeris price and variants
The Tata Aeris is available in Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Creative and Accomplished trims.
Prices start at Rs. 5.29 lakh for the Smart petrol manual version. The range goes up to Rs. 9.74 lakh for the Accomplished CNG AMT variant.
The car is offered with petrol manual, petrol AMT, CNG manual and CNG AMT options, depending on the variant. AMT stands for automated manual transmission, which allows the driver to use the car like an automatic without a traditional clutch pedal.

Exterior design and cabin
The Aeris gets a sharper front design with rectangular LED headlamps, a slim black grille and LED fog lamps. The side profile keeps the Tigor’s notchback-style roofline, but new 15-inch alloy wheels, wheel-arch cladding and updated details give the car a fresher appearance.
At the rear, Tata has added a new boot design, roof spoiler and updated tail-lamp graphics. The car is offered in six colours, including Daytona Grey, Nitro Crimson, Dune Glow, Pure Grey and Pristine White. Dual-tone paint options are also available.
Inside, the Aeris borrows several elements from the updated Tiago. Depending on the variant, buyers get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a six-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, cruise control and a wireless phone charger.
Higher variants also offer ventilated front seats, auto-folding outside mirrors, an auto-dimming inside mirror, push-button start and drive modes. The boot provides 419 litres of storage, which should be useful for airport trips and family travel.
Engine, CNG and safety features
The petrol versions use a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine producing around 86 PS and 113 Nm. The CNG version produces about 76 PS and 97 Nm. Both powertrains can be paired with a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT gearbox.
Safety equipment includes six airbags, three-point seatbelts with reminders, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard.
Higher variants add electronic stability control, hill-hold assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, rain-sensing wipers, a 360-degree camera, blind-view monitoring and a dashcam. This equipment gives the Aeris a stronger technology package than the older Tigor.
How the Aeris is different from rivals
The Aeris competes with the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze. The Dzire continues to have an advantage in mileage, resale value and service reach. The Honda Amaze offers a more premium feel, while the Aura remains a comfortable city sedan.
The Aeris stands out with its low starting price, CNG and AMT choices, large touchscreen and strong safety list. It also offers a more expressive design than many traditional compact sedans.
