Lexus ES 500e Launched in India-Full Specs, Price, Range, and Features

Lexus has officially entered a new phase in India’s luxury car market with the launch of the Lexus ES 500e, its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in India. The vehicle is priced at Rs 89.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this model is not just a new variant in the ES lineup. It is a strategic signal that Lexus now wants to compete more directly in India’s premium EV space.
The launch timing is interesting as Indian luxury buyers are increasingly open to electric mobility, but they still expect the same comfort, refinement, and brand experience they get from traditional premium sedans. The ES 500e is Lexus’s answer to that demand.
Lexus ES 500e – key specifications and performance details
The ES 500e is powered by a 74.68kWh battery pack and uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Output figures reported across launch coverage place power around the high-330 bhp range, with strong instant torque delivery typical of premium EVs. Lexus claims a 0–100 km/h time in around 5.5 to 5.7 seconds, making it quick enough for executive buyers who want both comfort and performance.

For range, the company has quoted around 580 km (ARAI claimed) on a single charge, which positions it strongly for intercity travel planning and reduces range anxiety in regular urban use. Charging support includes 11kW AC home charging and up to 150kW DC fast charging, with fast-charge capability reported (as per the official site) to take the battery from roughly 10% to 80% in under half an hour under ideal conditions.
Dimensionally and visually, this is the eighth-generation ES design language with sharper LED lighting signatures, a closed-off EV-style front treatment, and aerodynamic wheel options. It keeps the sedan identity but adds a more modern electric character.

Features, cabin experience, and why this launch matters
Inside, Lexus has focused on premium usability rather than extreme minimalism. The ES 500e gets a 14-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, and dual wireless charging pads in some configurations. It also includes high-end comfort and convenience elements such as a premium multi-speaker audio system, advanced climate controls, and high cabin insulation expected from the ES nameplate.

Safety and driver assistance are another major highlight. Source indicate Level 2 ADAS capabilities, which place the car in line with current global luxury expectations. This matters because premium EV buyers in India are no longer evaluating only battery and range; they are comparing complete technology stacks.
From a market perspective, the ES 500e gives Lexus an electric flagship-like statement in the executive sedan format. Many rivals have either focused on SUVs or offered EVs at much higher price points. By entering at this positioning, Lexus is targeting buyers who want a luxury EV that remains chauffeur-friendly, family-usable, and brand-prestige oriented.

Overall, the Lexus ES 500e is a meaningful launch because it combines established ES comfort credentials with a modern electric powertrain and competitive claimed range. It will not be a mass-volume product and it does not need to be. Its role is to strengthen Lexus’s premium EV identity in India and offer buyers a credible luxury electric sedan option beyond the usual segment choices.
