Hyundai Exter Facelift Launched in India-What’s New in Hyundai’s Urban SUV

Hyundai has launched the 2026 Exter facelift in India, giving its compact SUV a meaningful update on design, features, and safety while keeping its city-friendly positioning intact. The refreshed model continues to target buyers looking at practical urban SUVs, but now with a more premium feel across variants.
On the outside, the facelift introduces a revised front section with a wider fascia, updated bumper treatment, and a redesigned grille. At the rear, Hyundai has updated styling elements like the tailgate and spoiler details to make the Exter look fresher without changing its core proportions. New paint choices, including matte and bronze shades, also help the model stand out in traffic.
Inside, Hyundai has focused on incremental upgrades that matter in daily use. The cabin gets a new dual-tone treatment and trim refinements, while convenience features step up as you move up the variant ladder. Depending on variant, buyers get highlights such as an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electric sunroof, built-in dashcam, wireless charger, automatic climate control, and connected-car features.

Safety and equipment distribution are also stronger this time. Hyundai has pushed key features such as six airbags and core electronic safety aids lower in the range, which improves the Exter’s value proposition for budget-conscious buyers. The 2026 version is offered with petrol and CNG options, plus manual and AMT choices, helping it stay relevant for both private city users and cost-focused commuters.

With this facelift, Hyundai has not reinvented the Exter but has made it more complete where Indian buyers care most: usable tech, better feature packaging, and a more upmarket look at competitive pricing.
Hyundai Exter Pricing
The 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift in India is being reported in the ₹5.79 lakh to ₹9.41 lakh (ex-showroom) range, depending on variant and transmission. On-road price will be higher after adding RTO, insurance, and city/state taxes, so the final amount can vary noticeably by location. If you’re deciding between variants, the practical approach is to compare feature-to-price jumps (especially around mid variants) and then get a city-specific quote from a Hyundai dealer.
Exter Competitors
In India, the Hyundai Exter mainly competes with the Tata Punch, which is its strongest direct rival in the micro‑SUV segment. It also overlaps with value-focused compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, and some lower variants of the Maruti Fronx. Exter’s edge is usually feature packaging and city-friendly usability, while rivals like Punch often attract buyers looking for a tougher SUV feel and strong safety reputation.
