HP ZBook Ultra G3a Launches in India at Rs. 2,89,990 – A Powerful Mobile Workstation for AI and Design Work

HP has launched the ZBook Ultra G3a in India at a starting price of Rs. 2,89,990, excluding taxes. This is not a regular office laptop. It is a mobile workstation built for people who work with demanding software, including AI tools, 3D design, engineering applications and high-resolution video projects.

The ZBook Ultra G3a aims to offer desktop-style capability in a thinner machine that can travel between an office, studio, client site or college lab. It weighs about 1.9 kg and measures 17.9 mm thick, which is fairly portable for a 16-inch workstation.

AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro processor and large memory

The key highlight is the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro processor. HP offers configurations with up to the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 chip, which has 16 CPU cores and can reach speeds of up to 5.2 GHz.

The laptop can be configured with up to 192GB of unified memory. Unified memory means the processor and graphics system can access the same memory pool. This can be useful for professionals who work with huge files or need to run AI models directly on the device.

HP says the highest configuration can support local large language models with up to 300 billion parameters. In simple terms, this allows certain AI tasks to run on the laptop itself instead of sending data to a cloud service. That can be helpful when handling sensitive company documents, although real-world performance will depend on the model and workload.

Display, battery and connectivity

The ZBook Ultra G3a comes with a 16-inch display. Higher configurations can include a 2.8K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, while HP also lists other display options. Buyers should confirm the exact screen specification before ordering because the display varies by configuration.

The workstation has a 96Wh battery and supports fast charging. HP says the battery can reach 50 percent charge in about 30 minutes with a compatible charger.

Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI 2.1, an SD card reader, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. It also gets a 5MP IR camera, a backlit spill-resistant keyboard and Poly Studio-tuned speakers.

Who should buy the HP ZBook Ultra G3a

This laptop is aimed at architects, engineers, data scientists, product designers, software developers and professional content creators. For example, an architect working with large building models or a video editor handling 4K footage may benefit more from this workstation than from a standard premium laptop.

For web browsing, documents, online classes and casual entertainment, its price will be difficult to justify. Buyers should also remember that memory is onboard, so choosing the right configuration at purchase matters.

Competition and final view

The ZBook Ultra G3a will be considered alongside high-end mobile workstations from Dell Precision and Lenovo ThinkPad P series. Some creative professionals may also compare it with Apple MacBook Pro models, although software compatibility and operating system preference will be important factors.

The HP ZBook Ultra G3a stands out for its large memory options, local AI capability and relatively portable design. At Rs. 2,89,990, it is clearly a specialist machine, but it could be a practical investment for professionals whose work needs serious computing power away from a desk.
