DigitalPaani has raised Rs. 22 crore in a funding round led by Navam Capital. The Gurugram-based water-tech startup helps factories, commercial buildings, and public bodies monitor and manage water and wastewater systems using connected devices and software.

Water treatment plants are often built with good equipment but can underperform because daily operations are difficult to track. A small failure in a pump, filter, or chemical process can lead to wasted water, higher electricity bills, or compliance trouble. DigitalPaani wants to make those systems easier to run.

What DigitalPaani does

DigitalPaani was founded in 2020 by Mansi Jain and Rajesh Jain, a father-daughter team. Its platform connects with water infrastructure such as sewage treatment plants, effluent treatment plants, water treatment units, tanks, and pumps.

The system collects live operational data and compares it with the plant’s expected performance. It can flag problems early and help teams decide what needs attention. In simple terms, it gives facility managers a clearer view of what is happening inside a water plant without relying only on manual inspections.

For example, a hotel may have a wastewater treatment plant that is using too much energy or not recycling enough water. DigitalPaani’s platform can help the operating team identify where the process is slipping and take action before the issue becomes expensive.

Why the startup needs fresh funding

The Rs. 22 crore funding will support DigitalPaani’s expansion across industrial and municipal customers, help it serve a larger institutional client base, and support its plans to enter international markets.

This kind of business needs more than software development. The bigger aim behind DigitalPaani

DigitalPaani is working on a practical problem. Many buildings and factories treat wastewater, but the process may not always run at the right level. When treatment plants perform poorly, reusable water is lost and fresh-water demand rises.

The company aims to help customers improve water reuse, reduce equipment downtime, control operating costs, and make treatment plants more dependable. Its website says the platform supports plants ranging from smaller 10 KLD facilities to large 70 MLD installations. KLD means kilolitres per day, while MLD means million litres per day.

DigitalPaani reportedly serves more than 95 facilities and manages over 150 million litres of water each day. That gives the startup a working base as it prepares for a wider push.

Competitors and market overview

DigitalPaani operates in a growing smart water-management market. FluxGen is another Indian company using Internet of Things technology and data tools to help businesses monitor and reduce water use.

However, DigitalPaani’s focus on end-to-end wastewater treatment operations, compliance, automation, and water reuse gives it a distinct position. The real challenge will be turning its technology into consistent results across different facilities, regions, and customer needs.
