Alive App Raises $1 Million from Powerhouse and Flipkart Ventures to Build India’s Experience Economy

India’s startup funding market is moving beyond shopping, food delivery and fintech. Consumers are now spending more on activities such as workshops, wellness sessions, food events, art classes and local adventures.
Alive App is building a business around this shift. The experience-tech startup has raised $1 million in a seed funding round led by Powerhouse Ventures, with participation from Flipkart Ventures. The company plans to use the capital to improve its technology, add more experiences and expand its presence across Indian cities.
What Alive App does
Alive App helps people discover and book curated activities. Its categories include adventure, food, wellness, art, culture and learning.
The company currently operates in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi and Goa. It lists more than 500 experiences and works with over 400 creators and partners. The startup says that most bookings are for local activities, showing that users are increasingly looking for things to do near their homes rather than only booking experiences during holidays.
Alive was founded by Vivek Kumar, who is also the company’s chief executive officer.
The latest funding announcement does not clearly mention the startup’s founding year.
The company’s approach is different from a simple listings website. Alive says it works with creators to develop and launch experiences instead of only collecting activities already available elsewhere. This gives the platform more control over quality, presentation and customer discovery.
How the funding will be used
As per PRNewsWire, The $1 million investment will support three major areas.
First, Alive plans to strengthen its product and technology capabilities. Its use of artificial intelligence is aimed at improving the way experiences are created, organized and recommended to users.
Second, the startup will expand its supply of experiences. It is adding around 100 new activities every month and wants to offer more choices in the cities where it operates.
Third, Alive wants to increase repeat usage. Instead of being an app people open only when travelling, the company wants users to check it regularly while planning their weekends.
Alive has also reported its first profitable quarter in Bengaluru. It is targeting three times revenue growth in the coming months, although achieving this will depend on customer retention, pricing and the ability to build strong local partnerships.
Why Flipkart Ventures’ participation matters
Flipkart Ventures can provide more than financial support. The investment arm of Flipkart says its backed startups receive capital, strategic guidance, operational support and access to the wider Flipkart ecosystem.
For Alive, this could mean learning from a company that has built large-scale consumer technology in India. Flipkart’s experience with discovery, digital payments, logistics and customer behaviour may help Alive improve its own consumer journey.
The partnership may also create future opportunities to reach more users, although no specific integration or distribution deal has been announced.
Competitors and challenges
Alive may compete for consumer attention with platforms such as BookMyShow, District, Insider and specialized experience marketplaces. These services already help users find events, entertainment and activities.
Alive’s difference is its focus on curated, creator-led experiences across several lifestyle categories. However, the company must still solve important problems. It needs consistent quality, reliable partners, repeat bookings and enough activities in every city.
A customer may download the app for one interesting workshop, but the long-term business will depend on giving that user a reason to return every week.
