HP has launched two new AI-ready laptops in India – the OmniBook 5 and the ProBook 4 G2iS. While the OmniBook 5 is aimed at students and everyday users, the ProBook 4 G2iS is designed for small businesses, hybrid workers and professionals who need stronger security.

Both laptops come with Intel processors that include an NPU. NPU stands for Neural Processing Unit, a part of the processor made to handle certain AI tasks more efficiently. In simple terms, it can help with functions such as background-noise reduction, video-call effects and supported AI-assisted features without depending entirely on the main processor.

HP OmniBook 5 features and specifications

The HP OmniBook 5 is the more consumer-focused model. It has a 14-inch OLED display with 100 percent DCI-P3 colour coverage, which should offer richer colours than a regular LCD screen. This can be useful for watching films, editing photos and creating presentations.

The laptop uses up to an Intel Core 7 processor with an NPU rated at up to 16 TOPS. TOPS means trillions of operations per second and is one measure of AI-processing capability. It is useful for comparison, but it does not alone decide how fast every AI feature will run.

HP claims up to 42 hours of local video playback. This figure comes from controlled testing, so real battery life will vary depending on brightness, web browsing, apps and charging habits.

The OmniBook 5 weighs around 1.16kg and measures 11.77mm thick. It gets an aluminium body, a 180-degree hinge, two full-function USB-C ports and a compact 65W GaN charger.

For online classes and video calls, HP includes an FHD IR camera with Windows Hello face unlock, dual microphones and Poly Studio-tuned audio. Colour choices include Smoke Silver, Starlit Blue, Peony Pink and Soft Honeydew.

HP ProBook 4 G2iS focuses on business users

The HP ProBook 4 G2iS 14 is made for users who need a portable office machine. It features a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display, an aluminium chassis that is 12mm thin and a starting weight of around 1.18kg.

It is powered by up to an Intel Core 7 processor with up to 17 TOPS of NPU performance. HP says it can be configured with up to 32GB RAM and 1TB storage. That makes it better suited to multitasking with spreadsheets, browser tabs, presentations and business software.

The laptop has a 70Wh battery with HP Fast Charge support. It also includes AI-based noise reduction, an FHD HDR IR camera and dual microphones. These features could help a professional take a client call from a café or a busy home environment with less background noise.

Security is one of the ProBook’s key strengths. It includes a physical camera shutter, HP Drive Lock and HP Secure Erase. The chassis has also been MIL-STD tested for durability, though this does not mean the laptop is damage-proof.

Price and availability in India

The HP OmniBook 5 14 has a starting price of Rs. 1,09,999. HP says eligible affordability offers can bring the effective price down to Rs. 79,999. Pre-bookings are open until November 10, with sales starting the same day through the HP Online Store and HP World stores.

The ProBook 4 G2iS 14 starts at Rs. 86,000 plus taxes. The Mist Silver variant will be available from November 6, while Atmospheric Blue and Eclipse Gray options are expected by the end of December 2026.

Competition and buying advice

The OmniBook 5 will compete with OLED laptops from ASUS, Lenovo, Acer and Dell. The ProBook 4 G2iS will face business-focused options such as Lenovo ThinkPad, Dell Pro and ASUS ExpertBook models.

Choose the OmniBook 5 if you want a light laptop for study, entertainment and everyday creative work. The ProBook 4 G2iS is the better fit if your priority is business security, durability and hybrid-work features.
