Industrial47 has raised Rs. 85 crore in the first close of its debut venture fund, giving a fresh push to India’s early-stage deeptech startup ecosystem. The fund is targeting a base corpus of Rs. 150 crore, with a Rs. 50 crore green shoe option, which can take the total size to Rs. 200 crore.

The Bengaluru-based pre-seed VC firm is focused on frontier technology. In simple words, it wants to back startups building serious technology in areas like defence, space, energy, maritime intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

What Industrial47 wants to build

Industrial47 is not chasing quick consumer apps or copy-paste business models. Its focus is on startups solving harder problems that may take longer to build but can become important for India’s future.

The firm’s larger aim is to support India’s technological self-reliance. That means backing founders who are building critical technology inside India instead of depending only on imported systems.

The fund will compete and co-invest with other deeptech and early-stage investors in India such as Speciale Invest, pi Ventures, Ankur Capital, YourNest, growX Ventures, 8X Ventures, and Blume Ventures.
