OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 16 in China, giving its flagship phone a major hardware upgrade. The smartphone focuses on gaming, camera performance and battery life, with a 185Hz display, a 200MP primary camera and a large 9,000mAh battery.
The phone debuted in China on October 12, 2026. OnePlus has not officially confirmed an India launch yet, but reports suggest that the device could arrive in the country in December 2026 or January 2027.
OnePlus 16 specifications
The OnePlus 16 features a 6.78-inch flat LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. It supports refresh rates of up to 185Hz in compatible games, while everyday usage may operate at a lower rate to save battery.
A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and gaming feel smoother. This should appeal to users who play fast-paced games where quick touch response and fluid motion matter.
The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. It comes with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. The Chinese model is available in configurations offering up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
Camera features
The OnePlus 16 carries a triple rear camera setup. It includes a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
The phone can record video in up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second. It also supports 4K recording at up to 120 frames per second, including Dolby Vision support.
On the front, there is a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. While the high megapixel count looks impressive, real-world image quality will depend on image processing, low-light performance and camera tuning.
Battery and design
The 9,000mAh battery is one of the biggest highlights of the OnePlus 16. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
This battery could be useful for gamers, travellers and users who regularly stream videos or use navigation. The phone is around 8.5mm thick and weighs approximately 220 grams. It also comes with IP68 and IP69 protection against dust and water.
Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and ColorOS 17 based on Android 17.
Price and India availability
The OnePlus 16 starts at CNY 5,999 in China, which converts to roughly Rs. 86,000 before taxes and other costs. The top-end 16GB RAM and 1TB storage version costs CNY 8,499, or around Rs. 1.22 lakh.
The Indian price is expected to be higher if the phone launches here. Reports suggest a price above Rs. 1 lakh, placing it against premium models such as the iQOO 16, Xiaomi 18 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro.
Why the OnePlus 16 matters
The phone shows OnePlus moving further into the premium flagship segment. Its large battery and fast display give it a gaming-focused identity, while the 200MP camera brings stronger competition to camera-centric smartphones.
The main uncertainty is India availability. OnePlus has not confirmed the launch, and there is also speculation that India could receive the OnePlus 16R instead of the standard model.
Conclusion with key takeaways
The OnePlus 16 brings a powerful processor, 185Hz gaming display, 200MP camera, 9,000mAh battery and fast charging. It has launched in China, but its India arrival remains unconfirmed.
If launched in India at over Rs. 1 lakh, the phone will target buyers who want flagship performance, long battery life and strong gaming features. The final verdict will depend on its Indian price, software version and official availability.
