IBM and Yotta Bring Sovereign Agentic AI to Indian Organizations, Lets Understand The Benefits

IBM and Yotta Data Services have announced plans to make a sovereign agentic AI platform available for Indian enterprises and government organizations.
The proposed platform will combine IBM Watsonx Orchestrate with Yotta’s Shakti Cloud. IBM Sovereign Core is also planned for deployment on Yotta’s India-based cloud infrastructure. Together, the companies want to help organizations use AI while keeping greater control over data, operations and regulatory requirements.
One important clarification is needed. IBM Sovereign Core is generally available, while the India-focused IBM and Yotta agentic AI platform was announced as a partnership initiative to be delivered through Yotta’s Shakti Cloud.
What agentic AI means
Traditional AI usually responds to a prompt or performs one specific task. Gen AI and Agentic AI is designed to handle a series of connected actions to complete a larger goal.
For example, an AI agent in a company’s HR department could receive a leave request, check internal rules, confirm available leave, update the employee system and send a response.
IBM Watsonx Orchestrate is designed to help organizations create and manage AI agents across business functions. The proposed platform will support areas such as IT service management, human resources, finance, procurement and customer support.

Technology sovereignty aims to support open and modular systems, reducing dependence on a single technology provider. AI sovereignty covers where models run and how their use is governed.
The platform includes customer-operated control capabilities, identity and encryption management within the defined jurisdiction, continuous compliance monitoring and audit evidence generation. It is built using Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat AI technologies.
