Mental healthcare provider Amaha is raising Rs. 100 crore to expand its network of hospitals, clinics and digital care services in India. The round includes Rs. 10 crore in debt financing from Alteria Capital.

The funding comes as more people seek structured mental healthcare, but access to specialists and treatment facilities remains uneven across cities. Amaha’s plan is to combine digital consultations with physical centres and hospital-based care for people who need more intensive support.

Who founded Amaha and what does it do

Amaha, previously known as InnerHour, was founded in 2016 by psychiatrist and entrepreneur Dr. Amit Malik. Social entrepreneur Neha Kirpal joined as co-founder in 2019.

The company offers mental healthcare support through a mix of therapy, psychiatry, digital tools, outpatient clinics and hospital services. Its focus covers a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, addiction, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Amaha’s model is based on the idea that people may need different kinds of support at different stages. Someone may begin with an online consultation, while another person may require regular clinical appointments or hospital-based treatment.

Who is investing in the Rs. 100 crore round

Existing investors Lightbox Ventures and Fireside Ventures are participating in Amaha’s latest round. Other backers include London-based Sandbox International Holdings, Nithin Kamath’s Rainmatter, and family offices linked to Shreyas Shibulal, Ashish Bharat Ram and entrepreneur Adarsh Jalan.

Of the Rs. 100 crore being raised, Rs. 10 crore is debt funding from Alteria Capital. Unlike equity funding, debt is borrowed capital that must be repaid under agreed terms.

The company has not publicly disclosed the valuation, ownership changes or individual investment amounts.

Where Amaha plans to use the money

Amaha plans to use the funding to open more hospitals and outpatient clinics in key Indian cities. It also aims to add to its clinical team and invest in specialist treatment systems.

One immediate expansion step is a planned 55-bed mental health hospital in South Bengaluru, expected to begin operations by December 2026. It would become Amaha’s second hospital facility in the city as per Ascendants.

The company also plans to use AI-enabled tools for patient triage and data analytics. Triage means an initial assessment that helps a care provider understand the level and type of support a person may need. Such tools can assist clinical teams with organization and coordination, but they do not replace a qualified mental health professional’s judgement.

Why the expansion matters

Amaha currently operates centres in Bengaluru, Delhi NCR and Mumbai. Its expansion may improve access to organized mental healthcare, especially for people who need care beyond a single online session.

The company will compete with hospital mental-health departments, therapy networks, psychiatric clinics and digital mental-health platforms. The harder task will be maintaining consistent clinical quality as the physical network grows.

For patients and families, the value of an integrated network is simple – a smoother path from assessment and consultation to ongoing support when needed.
